About Our Boat

The Reel GRooV is a large 43’ BHM offshore sport fishing boat built in 1985. We stand out from our competitors because we are federally permitted, and Coast Guard-approved to take up to 18 passengers out on the Gulf of Mexico. This is a plus because it allows us to cater to large groups while most boats in Panama City can only hold up to 6 people. We can also fish in federal waters where most can only fish in state waters or inshore.

Captain Gary is a very laid back, easy going, easy to get along with man. He’s very knowledgeable regarding finding schools of fish and the techniques to catch them. His deck hand Spencer and his girlfriend Bailey were very helpful as well. They helped us fish for sharks, kept a are lines baited, and helped us real in some extra fish. I had my 8 year old son on board he all of the crew were super child friendly. Capt Gary even took the time to teach my son about the boats navigation system and let him sit in the captains chair while supervised. We caught a wide variety of fish: red snapper, white snapper, vermillion snapper ,stone perch, a couple of ramora which we through back but were so cool to see. On the trip we saw flying fish and dolphins. It was really fun and I highly recommend captain Gary to ANYONE.

Our 8 year old daughter, who’s opinion holds the most weight in matters such as this, had an absolute BLAST. When we started, she was very nervous about the boat and about touching fish, but the boys cheered her on and helped encourage her so much that by the end of the trip she was asking to go out again. If the fish stopped biting or if the dolphins were harassing us, we moved to a better location which we appreciated a lot. They were also extremely flexible with scheduling and very attentive to our needs as first timers. Even if we hadn’t caught any fish, which we did, we would have had a wonderful time on a boat with good company and sunshine; a great experience for a family to have together.

It was nice to get to know them and their backgrounds as well. These guys were very passionate about making the trip memorable for us. They made sure we took home some fish. Q. What should I bring?

A. Snacks, Drinks, Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Hat, Camera, and a Tip for the Crew.

Q. Are your fishing trips inshore or offshore?

A. We offer offshore deep sea fishing trips. Depending on the length of the trip you choose, we travel anywhere from 10-40 miles offshore to reach our fishing holes.

Q. What all is included in your deep sea fishing trips?

A. The Fishing License, Ice, Live Bait, Tackle, And The First Mate.

Q. What all do you offer?

A. We offer 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 hour offshore deep sea fishing charters. We also offer sunset, dolphin, and sightseeing cruises, plus assistance with 'burial at sea' services.

Q. Will we be trolling or bottom fishing?

A. We will do some trolling on the way out and back in from our bottom fishing holes (trips at least 6 hours long).

Q. How many people does the boat hold?

A. The Reel GRooV is federally permitted for up to 18 passengers plus two crew.

Q. Do you clean the fish? Is it included in the price?

A. They offer this service at the Marina. We will help you get your fish there when we get back to shore. They charge a small fee per pound.

Q. Do you offer split trips?

A. We mostly run private group trips, but we will gladly try to set you up with another group if possible.

Q. Is there a bathroom? Do you have air conditioning?

A. Yes, we have a bathroom and air conditioning onboard the Reel GRooV. We also have a cover over the back deck to help protect from the sun while fishing.
